What is Likhita Japa?


Likhita Japa is a religious tradition of writing the name of the your Lord Name in a book ten million times (Chanting by writing).

Likhita Japa is an effective spiritual practice according to Hindu beliefs because many of our senses are engaged simultaneously during this practice.

Though Likhita Japa is popular with elderly people, but open to anyone. 

Procedure to do Likhita Japam:

It is mandatory to take bath and wear fresh clothes while writing rama naamam

Offer a small prayer to Lord Ganapathi, to a Guru, to Lord name commencing likhita japam.    

Start writing the Lord naamam by simultaneously saying it loud, so that you may reap the benefit of writing, mental repetition, as well as oral repetition of the Lord’s name        

Write Lord namam as many times as possible. There is a specific rule on how many times the name must be written per day.

You can set aside atleast 5-10 minutes each day for this divine task

One can write Lord name in either English or in their own native languages.


What is the use of Likhita Japa?

It is believed that a calmness engulfs as one indulges in writing the Likhita Japa bringing in more clarity of mind, tolerance and strength to withstand obstacles in life.
